From San José to Monteverde by Car:
To arrive to Monteverde coming from San Jose, you have to take the Panamerican highway north to the 149 km road marker. Turn right at the exit to Sardinal, and continue for 34 km to Monteverde, follow the signs to the Monteverde reserve. “Hotel Poco a Poco” is the first hotel on the right hand side once you arrive to Monteverde.

From San José to Monteverde by Bus:
Buses depart at 6:30am & 2:30pm from the old Puntarenas bus station, located at Calle 14, Avenida 11 & 9. The morning bus passes by Lagartos at about 9:00am arriving to Monteverde at 11:00am. The afternoon bus passes by Lagartos at about 5:00pm arriving to Monteverde at 7:00pm.

From Puntarenas to Monteverde by Bus:
Same as coming from San Jose, see map above.
There are two buses going to Monteverde from Puntarenas: one at 1:00pm (via Las Juntas) and one at 2:00pm (direct). They both arrive to Monteverde at 5:00pm.

From Guanacaste by Bus:
(If you are driving from Guanacaste area, ask at the hotel for directions)
There are buses from Tamarindo, Flamingo, Playas del Coco, Nicaragua, Liberia, Santa Cruz and Nicoya that go to San Jose. Taking one of those buses, you can get out at the intersection named “Lagartos”, and wait on one of the Monteverde buses that come from San José and get to Lagartos at 9:00am and 5:00pm every day. We highly recommend being there earlier in case the bus arrives before the usual time.

From Tilaran by Bus:
Driving from the Arenal area, ask at the hotel for directions.
The bus leaves Tilaran every day at 1:00pm, arriving to Monteverde at 3:30pm.
